Cornelius the Chameleon

God is seeking the sinner

Meet Cornelius, a little chameleon who isn’t very good at hiding! Deep in the lush jungles of Madagascar, Cornelius loves spending time with his friends—but there’s one game he could happily do without: hide and seek. Whenever Cornelius gets nervous, he turns bright red, making it almost impossible for him to blend in. And when it’s his turn to be the seeker, finding his perfectly camouflaged friends isn’t easy either! But when Uncle Reggie tells him about another Cornelius—a Roman centurion in the Bible who was seeking something far more important—Cornelius discovers that God sees those who are searching for Him and wants people everywhere to know the wonderful Good News about Jesus. A fun, Gospel-centered story that reminds little hearts that when we truly seek the Lord, He does not leave us lost and wondering

What Children Will Learn

Through Cornelius’s story, children will discover that God loves people from every nation, family, and background and wants them to know Him. Just as God saw the biblical Cornelius seeking Him and sent Peter to tell him about Jesus, children learn that God cares about those who are searching for the truth. The story also gives children a clear introduction to the Gospel: Jesus is God’s Son, He lived a perfect life, died for our sins, rose again, and everyone who repents and places their trust in Him can be forgiven and become part of God’s family. And, like Peter, we can share that wonderful Good News with others.

Biblical Lesson & Theme

Seek the Lord—and share the Good News with others. God loves all people and shows no partiality. He wants people everywhere to know Him, and He can use us to tell others about Jesus. God welcomes everyone who comes to Him through Jesus, and we can help others find Him by sharing the Gospel.

Bible Memory Verse

“Then Peter opened his mouth and said: ‘In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.’” Acts 10:34 (NKJV)
