Meet Bartimaeus, a little bat with a very big fear! High in the treetops, eight-week-old Bartimaeus is facing a moment he has been dreading—his very first flight. He knows God created bats to fly, and his father assures him that he has everything he needs. But there’s just one problem… Barty is terrified to let go of his branch! With some gentle encouragement and the true Bible story of blind Bartimaeus, Barty begins to discover what it really means to trust the Lord. Sometimes faith means taking that first step even when we’re afraid, knowing that the God who made us loves us, hears us when we call, and will be with us every step of the way.

What Children Will Learn

Through Bartimaeus’s story, children will learn that trusting God doesn’t mean we will never feel afraid—it means choosing to trust Him even when we are afraid. Just as little Barty must let go of the branch he has always known, children are encouraged to bring their own fears and worries to the Lord and trust that He is with them when they face something new or uncertain. Children will also discover that God created them with care and purpose, and that they can call upon Jesus at any time, just as blind Bartimaeus called out to Him. Most importantly, the story points them to the greatest reason we can trust Jesus: He loves us, came to save us, died for our sins, rose again, and gives eternal life to everyone who puts their faith in Him.
